Pelvic Health

Regardless of age or gender, all people have a pelvic floor. Pelvic floor dysfunction can be wide ranging, is often misdiagnosed and can feel hopeless. We understand and are here to help you through this most sensitive of health issues by providing diagnosis, education and treatment to move you through these challenging issues.

Athletes

Most people do not realize how integral the pelvic floor is in functions of breathing, deep core stability, and hip function. It is especially ignored in an athlete who has not given birth. Factors such as over-training, stress, poor breathing mechanics, a sports injury or orthopedic surgery can compound into a pelvic floor disorder at any life stage and with any gender. Making sure the pelvic floor is functioning well as part of holistic health can not only optimize sports performance but also lessen issues such as athletic stress-incontinence and increase overall comfort and quality of life.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a life shift of the greatest magnitude. We work as part of your birth team to help with physical aches and pains during this time, incontinence management, safe exercise prescription and birth preparation.

It is never too late to begin a journey to better pelvic health. The physical and hormonal changes in menopause can feel daunting, but there is so much hope with the help of pelvic floor physical therapy. Incontinence, prolapse, GSM and re-entering a sexual wellness routine are all very common post-menopausal conditions we see…and many more.

Pelvic Pain Disorders:

Conditions such as endometriosis, vulvodynia, vaginismus, overactive pelvic floor and many more can be addressed with pelvic floor physical therapy. Pregnancy-related pain can also be addressed including Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction, SIJ pain and round ligament pain to make your pregnancy journey easier for you and baby. Breathwork, pelvic floor relaxation exercises, mindfulness practices, manual therapies and modalities may all be incorporated to help you find a new pain-free normal.
